Hi,

Birth for John Hawley now 1854 according to Bpt.,

Sept q 1854 Shardlow registration districts 7b 306 John Hawley, cannot access GRO site at present,
So unable to check mother’s name.

Perhaps some other kind roots chatter would look.

Oh dear, why can’t things be simple once in a while. A couple have five children before separating. We can find four BMD records without too much trouble and even five baptismal records. Why is the BMD for John so  elusive?

I wonder if the baptism record is wrong. Is it worth getting the BMD found by Rosie?

All the other births were in Ashbourne. Why would John’s be different?

Hi,

Just to add there is a Male child  birth registered Sept. Q Ashbourne 1850, GRO has the Mothers Name as Gettliffe,  This male child died Sept. Q Ashbourne 1850, again no christian name.

So if John & Ann followed the rules in 1850 and for their other children, why not for John?

Is there a possibility that he was not their child by birth, but bpt., as their child?
Notice that Mary Gettliffe, is 18 in 1851 any chance John could be her child?
