  No names, no numbers! Just "Street" or the name of a hamlet.

Or "cottage". I guess it gives us a challenge, to try and find out where the house stood, or which one of the cottages still standing was your ancestors residence, if it is still there.

My great grandfather was born in a small village in mid Suffolk. His nephew said the cottage was on the corner down Main Street, Letheringham. I had already been to the village so knew where he meant. The cottage is long gone but I saw it on an old OS map from 1911.

I tell you, visiting an ancestors village/town/street of residence does give you a great insight into their lives.
