Finding a family member
« on: Tuesday 28 September 21 14:14 BST (UK) »
Hi there

I have come across some family info on a James Robertson born 1865 in Laurencekirk , scotland. His father is down as James Edward Robertson  & mother down as Margaret.

On James born 1865 his death cert is saying he dies in Troyeville, Johannersburg, South Africa in 1949. How would I go about finding why he traveled & lived in South Africa.

Also his wife is down as Ellen & they married in Townsville, Australia. They have 3 sons as well

Any help would be great thank you

You could look for passenger lists for him travelling to/from other countries.

Were his children born in Australia?
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

His death certificate from South Africa (FS) suggests that he was a retired Book-keeper
