Finding maiden name of Mary Prendergast

Hi all, struggling with maiden name of Mary Prendergast born  mayo, Ireland  . Married Luke Prendergast,  son Thomas, daughters Bridget, Anne and Mary  living in Hull  from 1861, died  1895.. not sure if her maiden name Machon or Nealy !!

Mary born about 1830 , son Thomas born 1851, states Luke Prendergast and Mary Nealy parents... someone found GRO for Mary's illegitimate daughter born  1863 ( as Luke had passed away)  and said her maiden name of mother was Machon.. not sure how to check this out.. thank you

If you can quote a reference for one of those censuses, that would help people looking.


In terms of the birth reference for Thomas, is the maiden name from the birth certificate?

And checking maiden names - if you search on the GRO website (https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/) you can look for a birth ref and it quotes mother's maiden name.  You need to register, but it's free.
