Bridget Blake
« on: Thursday 30 September 21 14:48 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone I am trying to make sense of a Ancestry message I got. My Aunt Bridie as I knew her or Bridget Blake her official name was born in Kerry about 1905 her parents my grandad and gran were Michael and Jane Blake. I know my Aunt did not live in Belfast or England during her life apart from her retirement from the Cunard Line and then she lived with her sister for a short while. Ancestry sent me 2 suggestions one states that a Bridget Blake had residence in 1925 in Manchester New Hampshire and two immigration records show a Bridget Blake passed through on the 7th Oct 1929 in New York from Cobh Ireland. I haven’t a clue where my Aunt lived apart from her visits to Belfast after her ship docked in England. Any help would be much appreciated as it will cost me £100 for 6 months of Ancestry!! Thank you.

That one was born Kilkee, Co. Clare, a shop assistant and going to America with other family members. All going to relative in Jersey City, N.J. permanently.

Hello,
I have a published tree with just a few names and often get messages from Ancestry to try to link people of the same names.
Could it be that and really those hints are not your Bridie?

Really helps if you work from sources rather just trying to use Ancestry hints.

Bridget Blake was born 1909-

Yes that is my Aunt Bridie (Bridget) Born in Quay St. Its only when I seen those suggestions that I had no idea where she lived for all the years she would appear with alot of of presents from different parts of the world to my grandads homes in Belfast. All i ever knew was she worked on the boats and maybe it was the Cunard Line.

Knowing she was born in 1909 it wouldn't have made sense to see her living in New Hampshire in 1925 aged about 14 years.
If she worked on any of the British liners going in and out of English ports such as Southampton you should be able to find her in crew manifest. Ancestry & Find My Past both have passenger manifests for inward and outward journeys until around 1960. You could also search on FamilySearch (free).

Bridget didn't marry then if her death is registered under her maiden name?
