French birth
« on: Thursday 30 September 21 22:54 BST (UK) »
Hi.

The year is 1851. I just can't decipher the date.

Can anyone help please?

Problem is that I'm having trouble resizing it so that you can read it.

Would anyone kindly offer to read it on their personal email?

If this is a no-no, I apologise.

Thank you

Phil

Hi Phil.

Have you tried either of these?

On a laptop:

Select a picture.
Select the Picture Tools > Format tab and select Crop.
There are different ways to crop your picture: Drag a cropping handle to crop it from the side, top, or bottom. Press Shift to crop the entire photo down to the size you want.
Press Esc to finish.

On a Mac:
Highlight the part of the picture you want to keep.
Hold down Command and press K (removes anything outside the defined area).
Hold down Command and Press + or - to re-size.
If you want to check how big it is on the Mac, right click on the image when it's on the desktop and go to Get Info.

I hope that helps.

Peter

Can you provide details of the birth (including commune), so I can look for a copy of the acte and check for you?

If not, send me a Private Message on here.

Hi Peter/Manu

I printed the image from the archives that I accessed online a few years ago but I just cannot find it when looking through Manche (Portbail).

I have attached the photo but whether it is legible enough for you....

That's hopeless - I cropped it and saved it but still unusable.

I'm not sure about the exact date, but it starts with twenty
L'an mil huit cent cinquante et un, le vingtsixième? jour du mois d'août, à cinq heure du soir
1851, 26th of august, at 5 pm

I looked in Portbail!!

Can't thank you enough. I can't even remember putting this on Geneanet....

Has been a while since I picked up my family tree. Was sure that I'd added the date to my programme but I think a system update made it throw a wobbly.

Really appreciate you taking the time to check for me.
