Can't see much so far that helps, but his full name was Cyril Edward May. His 1911 census entry with family at that address www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X7LX-DQ8

A little on him here including a photo https://berkshirestories.org.uk/archive/books/berkshire-and-the-war-the-reading-standard-1916-1919/berkshire-and-the-war-the-reading-standard-volume-2/131042-berkshire-and-the-war-the-reading-standard-pictorial-record-volume-2-p-289?#prettyPhoto/0/

I saw a reference to him being a press photographer which fits with the ref here with his photo.

Another address showing for him is 90 London Street, Reading.

There's quite a lot of newspaper references to Cyril, over the years, so there's probably quite a few stories and tidbits you can find.

There's actually a photo of Cyril and Dorothy on their wedding day. It looks like Cyril is in uniform.
