I think you will find the births of James and his siblings under the surname MACK.

Maddys52, you are a Gem (Y) not sure if that works as it is a Thumbs up!

I have now got so much information that I will be kept busy for any more "Lockdowns" that may be enforced!  It is just amazing the amount of information that I have received from just 1 post and I am so grateful to everybody.

Cheers

Syl  :)

Hi Debra

Well, I certainly didn't think of searching under MACK and thanks so much for suggesting it.  I will do as you suggest and hopefully end up with enough research to keep me going for the next 6 months  ;D

Cheers

Syl :)

Yes,
I am often surprised by the amount of almost sordid detail was printed in those times.
No concern at all for the feelings of family and friends was shown.

Very different standards of press freedom.

Roderick's last child may have been your James Lawrence and he would have been young at the time of his mother's death.

In 1886 Roderick was not very attentive to his children's education and wasn't sending them  to school

Well done Debra, I was searching yesterday with wildcards on the father's name (Rod*/R*) but didn't think to search for M*.  :)

Agreed, very sad too.

Though I think the youngest child may be Edmond (21387 / 1875) I think I count 8 children all together, with wide variation in spelling for mother's maiden name.

I hope that I haven't missed anybody out when thanking them but if so, here's another big THANKS!  I believe that Edmond was the last child but no wonder I couldn't find him as I had been searching for Edward as that's the name that was listed on the Death Registration for Roderick.  I don't think that Bridget was altogether truthful about her age either but that appears to be par for the course in those days, especially if the woman was older than the man!  I am still working my way through all the info that I received yesterday.

Cheers
