Locating London Streets in the Census...is there a list?

Hallo

I know FindMyPast has a "search by address" function but I seem to recall seeing somewhere online of a list of London Streets with the appropriate census registration info. It might have been only for the 1901 or 1911, not sure.
Searching through the enumerator's descriptions is very tedious.

If you  have had conversations with older relatives that begin with " I can't remember his name but his grandmother used to live down the Old Kent Road near the pub"  then you'll know why I would be interested in an index of streets !

Can anyone help ?

Excellent help all, thankyou. The most likely match for my memory is the "Historical Streets Project"

My favourite London site at the moment is "Layers of London" . it reminds me of an old website Pin It where you could add old photographs of buildings in the place where they would be on Google StreetView. And I can't find that either!

Here you can add photograhical material, local knowledge, historical info, anecdotes and memories and whatever else occurs to you! The site is lottery-funded and the content is guaranteed to be available for at least 20 years and very probably beyond.
Try it! I found it a bit fiddly at first but actually it's very simple. Just for the old maps , it is well worth a look.

Hi, can I ask, are there any particular streets you are looking for, perhaps through birth, marriage or death certs near the census, or just the streets that family spoke of?

It took me a long time to find the terrace house my great gran was born in, by the 1891 census it had been incorporated into the main street it was down. The terrace described was a row of houses, not a  street called "Southampton Terrace". Often, terrace can mean either of those two.

@coombs.....thankyou for asking but no, my interest in finding streets is as I said, looking at who was living there when you have no name to go on. Sometimes I just wait until I have enough things to check on FindMyPast and take out a one month subscription. But I've just renewed my Ancestry sub so it will have to wait a bit longer!
