Marriage 22 Oct 1860 St George, Hanover Square, London
« on: Saturday 02 October 21 23:29 BST (UK) »
A marriage between a William Bowden and Louisa Bell 1860 Hanover Square.
Two witnesses were Richard Bell (possible older brother) and Anne Bell (could be wife to Richard or possible older sister).
Louisa's father's name is "Richard" so am keen to establish if this is the right Louisa.  She wasn't born in the county, (but anything is possible in regards to her movements around the country).
I cannot find them in the 1861 census which is strange and wanting some help with this couple to find them.

I note that William's occupation was "Excise". If he was an Excise Officer, there's a strong chance he would've been transferred to other parts of the country. Recently I found an Excise Officer working in Scotland for one census report. Have you tried searching for both in the 1861 Scotland census?

There's a William Bowden, Excise Officer, mentioned in the 17 October 1868 Bucks Herald. So if this is your man, he was in Bucks c1868. TIP: Excise men are often mentioned in newspaper reports, due to the nature of their work.

From the marriage certificate:

What is father Richard’s occupation, and is he noted as deceased?

How old is Louisa?

Can you please give all the information you have on your Louisa.

I agree that this might help.

There don’t seem to be very many Louisa Bells around.

I don’t know if this relevant, but in the 1841 census there is a Richard Bell aged 65, Ann Bell, 55, and Louisa Bell 15, living in Brougham St, Bishopwearmouth. Richard is a labourer and all are born in county. Is this Louisa too old to be yours?
