Brislington - Original Parish records (early 1800's)
« on: Wednesday 06 October 21 12:43 BST (UK) »
Much to my delight I have finally found a baptism for a guy in Brislington in 1803. Transcript is from the BISHOPS TRANSCRIPTS. Have now obtained a copy of the original BT.

Good news is that I also found a transcript of the same Bp, this time taken from the PARISH REGISTER.

Minor challenge - the records between PR & BT are slightly different.

Anyone know where or how I could get a copy of or from the Brislington Parish Register for baptisms 1802-1803?

Thanks

Di

Added: Sorry - meant to say that I don't need a lookup as I have the transcripts. Just want to compare the 2 original records

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

Thanks BumbleB

It seems that they have Militia lists and bishops transcrips on film but although I can't see any reference to actual "Parish Registers" I'll contact them in the hope that they have a copy

Really appreciate your help and direction

South West Heritage Trust:

Just in case anyone is looking for the same information at a later date -

As suggested, I tried the Somerset Heritage and they directed me to the Bristol Archives.
Tried Bristol Archives and they were ever so helpful and they were able to direct me to the Parish Registers available on line .... would you believe ... on Ancestry  ::)

... BUT not as though you'd know the PR's were there. They're hiding behind a few Bristol BMD options and under Browse a collection (no index).

Now I have the original Parish record ... I'm one happy little camper  ;D

Thanks all
