Latin phrase on baptism help
« on: Saturday 09 October 21 01:06 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Please could someone give me an English translation of the phrase in brackets on this baptism for Henry Nutter at Lincoln's Inn Fields (Sardinian Chapel)?
I think it says the parents are Henry and Mary (Marie).

Thanks,

Die 11, of Maii, 1777, Baptizatus fuit Henricus filius Henrici

et Marie Nutter, / Natus 3, ejusdem mensis / Patrinis

Davide Crowley et Marie Crowley

On the 11 day, of May, 1777, Henry the son of Henry and Marie Nutter
was baptized, ( Born 3, of the same month ) Sponsors
Davide Crowley and Marie Crowley

I'm not 100% sure that Patrinis translates as Sponsors.

I'd translate it as godparents. Different word for the same role.
