The story may also have been covered in the Croydon Advertiser. I don't know whether it's been digitised. If not, you could ask Croydon Local Studies, who should have it on microfilm.

Of the 6 Croydon papers available on line at BNA, including the Advertiser, only the Croydon Times covers the period in question.

Apparently June Massey the dancer worked at

Lem Calendar’s Buccaneer Nightclub in London.

I can not find any reference to it, can anybody else?

It was in Meard Street (off Wardour Street) in Soho. The full name of the proprietor (from an account of him being stabbed in 1857) was Lenvall Callendar.
