Ebay oddity
« on: Wednesday 13 October 21 12:05 BST (UK) »
I seem to be having a problem with browsing items on ebay.  I'm browsing jigsaw puzzles and then when I click on an item for further information, it throws up another webpage.  I therefore have two ebay webpages, the search one and the further information on the item one.

I did contact ebay who were not able to assist me with curing the problem.  I had this problem before but I cannot remember how it was sorted.

Anyone have any ideas for curing this problem please?  Thank you.

This is part of the reply I got from chatting to ebay:-

I have checked the two links from my end as well and as you said even I am getting two web pages on two different tabs. It appears to be a new update and that's the reason it is happening.

I'm not impressed with that response.  He did say that he would raise the problem with ebay, but whether they will actually do anything about it remains to be seen.  :(

For me it is annoying as I have to remember to close the item view page before going back to the search page.

Yes, Rosie, it does get annoying if you forget to close the page before going back to the search page.  As you have discovered you end up with loads of pages open.  :-\

Glad you got the jigsaw that you have been after.  So satisfying when you find it and get it.  ;D

The effect you have is the way I prefer to browse many sites.

I search for a subject (items on eBay, people meeting criteria in a census....), then open each item in a separate tab. Then I can examine each tab in turn, closing off the ones which fail to raise my interest.

The search page is still there, and I can then move on to page 2 of results without waiting for the site to rebuild the contents of page 1.

Annoyingly, Ancestry intercepts Ctrl-click, properly reserved for opening a link in a new tab, forcing me to right-click and use "Open in new tab". They also intercept Shift-click, which should open a link in a new window.

That said, eBay is behaving normally for me, using Chromium-based Edge.
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.
