Josua Benjamin Le Roux UITENHAGE - Dutch Reformed Church Cemetery
« on: Monday 11 October 21 10:57 BST (UK) »
Good day,

Im trying to search Josua Benjamin Le Roux (my grand father brother) who died in Uitenhage on the year of 1928 at a age of 16.
I see from his death docs, has was buried at the Dutch reformed church Uitenhage but cant seem to see a cemetery at the church and dont see anything on Eggsa. At this stage im trying to find the grave or any information anyone might have on him.

Regards
Craig Le Roux

Hi protocol is to post your own post and not add it to someone else's post. That way you will get more responses to your request instead of it being hidden on another post. Good luck.

Not that this helps very much, but there are actually two church buildings. The old church building remained in use until 1927, when a new church was built along side it, and the old building remained in use as a hall. The new church was opened on February 2, 1929.

I'm wondering if there's only one burial ground, associated with the original church building ??

NOTE: Cemeteries refer to large burial grounds that are not affiliated with a church. Your relative's death record indicates he was laid to rest in the church's burial grounds.

I see from his death docs, has was buried at the Dutch reformed church Uitenhage

The death notice says that he was buried at a "Dutch Reformed Burial Ground" (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-95F8-P1T?i=525). I don't necessarily interpret this as a burial right next to the church. It could have been a designated area for Dutch Reformed burials (i.e. part of a larger cemetery or a stand alone cemetery).
