marriage in Dufferin, Manitoba
« on: Saturday 16 October 21 17:09 BST (UK) »
Hello All

Is it possible to find a marriage certificate for a Norman Mcdonald to a Barbara Mcdonald in 1891 in Dufferin, Manitoba please?

I'd like to find their fathers names please?  and anything else on the certificate.  Then I may be able to find her birth in Scotland.

Many thanks

1911 and 1916 census records indicate Barbara emigrated to Canada in 1889. Both census records list her birth year as 1867.

If it helps, the 1901 Canada census lists a DoB of 6 Dec 1868 for Barbara (born Scotland).
Norman's DoB is 10 Jan 1861 (born Ontario).
His parents could be Allen & Isabella McDonald (nee Mckilligan / Mackillican). Father born in Nova Scotia, mother born in Scotland.

Possible birth?

Name:   Isabella Mackillican
Birth Date:   05 Apr 1826
Baptism Date:   15 Apr 1826
Baptism Place:   Cawdor, Nairn, Scotland
Father:   John Mackillican
Mother:   Margt. Macarthur

Is this her in the 1851 census?

Name:   Isabella Mckilligan
Age Next Birthday:   26
Estimated Birth Year:   abt 1825
Birthplace:   Scotland
Residence Place:  Glengarry, Canada West (Ontario), Canada
Profession, Trade, or Occupation: Ditto [labourer]
Religion:   Congregalnalist

Nothing on passenger lists so far for a Barbara McDonald

Son John McDonald died in British Columbia 3 March 1975 but death certificate didn't help with Barbara's maiden name, unless OK means something.

Canadian attestation papers gave father Norman as next of kin

Perhaps it was an acknowledgment that Barbara's maiden name was also Mcdonald.
