Sarah supposedly died between 1881 and 1900 but I  don't find her in 1880 to see if she had children.

Could Sarah Beard have been a widow in 1876 and possibly an aunt to other relative of Sarah Watterson/Waterson?

That is a great observation and follow up regarding Sarah Beard. It might be useful to find Sarah’s prior marriage to Mr. Beard. Thank you Lisa in California.

That doesn't seem to be the correct William in 1900, widower, as siblings are different and his  occupation is iron moulder, instead of Boiler maker like all the other censuses.

Regarding the 1900 census - those were not Williams siblings - he was a boarder.  The date given for birth was Jan 49 (coincidence  )  Occupation "stove moulder"- - depends who gave the information. Might still be the same
