A marriage in Tynemouth 1906 - why?

I have a curious alliance come to light. Percy Edward CRAXFORD was born on September 1st 1877 in Heydour in rural Lincolnshire. He married Jane Craig born December 1881 in Barrow in Furness. The marriage indexes list this ceremony in the fourth quarter of 1906 in the Tynemouth Registration District.

I'd obviously looking to see how this couple met but also I would like to know in which church and what date it look place. I have not been able to find a record on line.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If Percy was born in 1877, how could he marry in 1881 - when he was 4 years old?

www.marriage-locator.co.uk says the 1906 marriage was at Wallsend St Luke.

I note from the 1901 census that he was working on the Railways and was in Derbyshire at that point.
His job would mean him travelling. Maybe Jane caught his train (and his eye!)

Then he and Jane are in Middlesex and he's an Earthenware dealer!

North Tyneside local studies centre probably have these marriages on microfilm

Both of the above are free to consult if you visit, unsure about the local history library but Tyne and Wear charge £7 if you apply remotely for a copy.

I am on nightshifts starting from tonight but if you like, I can look up this marriage for you the next time I can get to the North Shields local studies at some point in the next couple of weeks.  I believe they hold the registers for St Luke.

(As an aside: their son William George Craxford was a casualty of the devastatingly tragic torpedo sinking of a Japanese transport ship, the Rakuyo Maru,  in the South China Sea in September 1944. Apparently two such sinkings six days apart accounted for 7000 men, most Allied POWs.)
