1939 Register - School Villa Gassells Mills, Leeds

I have found somebody living at School Villa Gassells Mills, Leeds,  according to the 1939 register.

Donald Burnell born 1918.

I am struggling to find any reference to School Villa Gassells Mills.

Any help would be appreciated.

It was in the Hunslet area of Leeds, I have an 1893 map which shows Balmoral Street and there is a very large school. Balmoral Street no longer exists but there is still a Belinda Street which Balmoral was off. There is also a much smaller school close by now.

Kay, yes that is the one. Photographs of Balmoral Street can be found on www.leodis.net and there are photos of pupils from the school (Low Road School) taking part in various activities. Balmoral Street and the others around were probably demolished as part of Leeds slum clearance in the 1970s.
