What date

Hi

This photo is printed on metal with a card frame. I have considerably enhanced it as it is very dark.
What date do you think the photo might be?

Hi Bob

Sounds like a ferrotype to me

http://www.rogerco.freeserve.co.uk/type/tin.htm

As it says on the website you must date it by the clothes etc.

Looks 1880s to me.

I was also going to say 1880s, but only because the chap standing next to the carriage is wearing a hat which is identical to that worn by every carriage driver in every Jack the Ripper film ever made. That took place in 1888, but I'd guess mens styles didn't change as regularly as womens, so he may have still been wearing it in the 1890s.
