Burials - MARSDEN
« on: Tuesday 19 October 21 07:13 BST (UK) »
Firstly, thank you for taking the time to read this post. I appreciate any help I can get.

My great-grandmother, Sarah Jane Cardiff Marsden, died in Nottingham in 1938. I'm looking for her burial.

The GRO Death Index gives the following information:
Basford, Notts. Q3 1938 Volume 7B, Page 133

Her probate adds the detail that she lived on Wollaton Road in Beeston, and died on 26th July 1938. Her address is just around the corner from Beeston cemetery, so I'd assume she's buried there.

Can you help to locate her burial?

Welcome to rootschat.

As you have her date of death have you asked Beeston cemetery if they can help you with this information.

No, I haven't. I was a little hesitant as the Beeston cemetery and her address lie outside the Basford registration district. But I suppose it is somewhere to start.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Presumably her husband was still living, she would probably have been buried nearer her home.

I believe that they'd separated by then. Unfortunately :'(

I saw that he was mentioned on her entry on the probate index, do you have her will that may mention where she wishes to be buried

I don't. The family fell apart with their separation. The person mentioned is her son; I guess he was the only one left at home.
Thank you for your help. I have just sent a request to Beeston cemetery.

In case you are interested you can get a copy of that will for £1.50 from the Probate Office but it may not tell you a lot
