Thanks Cliff, I do have death. Have his marriage, children etc.  I also have his fathers name (Demitri from marriage certificate) but was hoping to find a definitive place of birth in Greece. I think the paperwork shows Syros but not certain of that.

Thanks

I think the paperwork says Syra, Greece - an island in the Cyclades, Aegean Sea.

You have clipped the image so we cannot see the date on the stamp. Could you confirm the date?

Looks like this maybe him on the 1915 Crew Agreement of the vessel JEDMOOR official number 135287
https://1915crewlists.rmg.co.uk/document/207359#&gid=1&pid=3
Image 3, Number 17 on the Crew Agreement.
You will note that there Is a slopping letter "T"  between the christian and surname, similar to his name on the card CR1. Age is a little out, but Merchant Seamen regularly lied about their age.

Thats great thanks seaweed. Firstly the stamp is 1925 @ South Shields. Can only be one Theordore Nanos in South Shields where he was living at the time with his wife and family (had to cut it down to be able to load up to Rootschat).

The Fireman on the crew list also links to the rating shown on the record.

So have got the Jedmoor and the Parkmill to look for.  I did see an entry for a ship called the Shemara in 1911 that may have been linked to Theo but could not locate anything.

(Found him on the Parkmill. Surname Nonias)

Thanks

Could you give me the full date of the stamp. It is important. I can then get back to you with details on how to find all of his ships before 1925.
The only 1911 Crew Agreement of SHEMARA is in Portsmouth record office. A trancript dated 1/1/1911 until 9/9/1911 says he was not on board.

That said, only one fireman is listed. A ship of that size would require more than one fireman. It may be worth contacting Portsmouth RO to see the original.
