Do other entries include the mother's full name or just her surname? There are differences in letters, which could be down to lack of space, but could it be Jane Spiers?

If the name at the bottom is the same as the one crossed out then it looks like the registrar was writing Lane - no room for a longer word.
BUT I think the bottom word looks like one long word.

After Lane, it could just be spinr, for 'spinster'.

I appreciate this doesn't normally appear in such records, but there was obviously some confusion here with Margaret's name, and this might have been an attempt to clarify it.

A good scan.  Definitely no 'p'.

Could be Lanesosine/Lanesosire.

Perhaps just a misheard/spelt Lancashire  ???
