355466 pte j smith h l i
« on: Saturday 23 October 21 22:04 BST (UK) »
Hi folks can anyone find any records of who this is ,

I have found this medal
Among my collection it is the rainbow coloured ribbon ( allied victory medal)

I have a j smith in family but I have never heard of this before the medals must have been mixed up , only did I realise the names etc were etched onto the rim

Very interesting find

Hope I can get more detail on j smith and where he came from and joined forces etc ?

Ryan

Unfortunately his service record hasn't survived.

There is a record of him being treated for gunshot wounds to his right arm and thigh in October 1917 at 139 Field Ambulance. At that time he had 2 years and 8 months service and had been in the field for 7 months.
