The BIVRI is the British Isles Vital Records Index, almost the same that
the Mormon (Latter Day Saints) have on line, but some in the CDroms
are not included on their web search and vice versa.
Here are the references that closely match your James, but I cannot be
certain taht either are your James [see below].
The Griffiths Valuation Index does have a number of Owens in Roscommon
including names such as Francis, James, John, etc. but determining which
are the family of James is not easy!.
The following is from the Valuation Index.

RootsChat must deal with any breach of copyright by its members.
For some time the team of Copyright Editors has been removing breaches of copyright and sending detailed personal messages to the member that had posted the information. Due to the volume of posts and members this is now impractical. Messages in breach will simply be deleted and this notice posted. We apologise for any inconvenience caused but are sure you will appreciate the importance of this issue. It is worth keeping in mind that if James mother was from an adjoing
parish and not the parish of his father, then it is quite likely that any
records of marriage/birth/baptism may be in that parish.
