Diary > Summary - Week ending 31st October
« on: Monday 25 October 21 16:21 BST (UK) »
Just realised we're in another week, taking us to the end of October.

Despite the high number of Covid cases the Health Secretary thinks we'll have a normal Christmas. Let's hope he's right.

       Old song goes...

       Que Sera Sera
       Whatever Will Be Will Be
The Future's Not Ours To See
Que Sera Sera    - Doris Day, 1950's

No-one really knows what will happen.      On the one hand, there could be an even greater crisis than there is now, especially if the hospitals still aren't coping.     On the other hand, it may hopefully work out quite well, due to the number of folk who have been vaccinated.

Roobarb - you might have to be prepared to wear the mask again  :)  But I hope not  ;)

Oops!  I was referring to the "real" Roobarb, rather than the human representation  :-X

Had  my  booster  today, a  very  nice  man,  " sharp scratch" wallop, well I  knew  I  had  that one, he  was  a  nice man  till then, should  have  asked  him if  he  was  having a nice  day, was  high   on my arm , felt  like  he  hit the  bone, but hey  ho  it is done  now, just  got to stay  safe as I  have  done all the  time, had  a  bit  of  a calamity today when the elastic  broke  on   my mask, no scissors  to do anything but I  managed to  make  another  hole  with  my pen  nib and re-knotted the elastic,  lasted till I got  home thankfully,  did  notice  not  everyone  on the bus wearing masks , we  can  only  do what  we can do to stay  safe

Yes,the vaccine needs the big arm muscle so injection high ,almost the shoulder.
Had a laugh today, have posted this once but nowhere to be seen?
Went to nice neighbour with a tea cake from a newly opened pack.
To be brief — she could not open the little vestibule door ,but shouted to me through the window, trying with the wrong key, eventually got both doors open.I had a try and oh heck, we were both locked in!
What complicated locks , little click, levers that muck things up.
We laughed so much she needed to use her stair lift to the bathroom!
I was getting anxious myself!
After a few choruses of “ Oh dear what can the matter be?
Two old ladies locked in the vestibule —- “
It got serious, my front door was wide open !
Anyway I sorted it but messaged her daughter as it is dangerous .
We vowed we would die in each other’s arms!.
For those not familiar with a vestibule it is a small room just behind the front door ,a door separates it from the lobby ,- the long narrow hall in terraced houses. They are a bit posh!
Had call from grandson - thought oooooh THE NEW BABY is here ,but no, they were making treacle toffee with Flash Harry but it was not setting

Did a big clean up in  the  kitchen today ,polished all the black shiny doors on the units ,moved out everything ,including my boards.
Bread, pastry  and  huge ones I had for rolling out icing for three tier wedding cakes etc .
As F,H, would say it was disgustipating ,a spider was behind the last big one .
Narrow body ,ling thin legs and fangs!
All washed and back in place.
I polish the black unit doors with ammonia ,very shiny then .
I picked the spider up with that cloth ,and shook it outside ,perhaps it was overcome with ammonia fumes.

Well daughter phones this evening ,so clear away  from evening  meal ,a cuppa and relax.
Cheerio. Look after yourselves everyone
Thanks for the news .
Viktoria.

Good to hear you’ve had your booster LM… hope you don’t have any after effects!

Roobarb, good of you to start this weeks… can’t believe we’re at the end of the month already with clocks going back on Saturday and Halloween too!

Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that people will wake up to the reality that Christmas could be compromised if they’re not sensible now! We continue to wear face coverings inside shops and are still careful!

Well Viktoria I had to laugh at your description of being caught in the vestibule…. Glad you got out in one piece!

This week is quite busy for a change!
Our daughter who was/is due to come up with the boys on Thursday- Saturday is still spitting feather as STILL no result of PCR test taken by youngest on Thursday last week… lost apparently!
He had another one yesterday and they’ve all taken lateral flow and negative… he developed sore throat, few spots on hands and feet so she thinks it is hand, foot and mouth… chat with docs who also thinks it was so now they’ve to just wait to be sure not covid. .. they’d planned a couple of days away but instead stuck at home! So not sure if we’ll see them or not!

Coffee morning as usual today with my three friends and neighbours ….
Hairdresser coming to house to do my hair after lunch…

Tomorrow we’re getting together to discuss our Christmas faryre … hope it’s going to be ok to go ahead… need to think about spacing, screens, etc..

Lovely afternoon in the garden yesterday, quite warm in the sunshine… all the asters have gone over and looking very bedraggled so cut them back so you could see the hydrangea as the flower heads are such a pretty colour, my don’t they flower for such a long time turning from all sorts of shades during that time.. think I’d like more in the garden!
Cut back the lavender borders as they’ve died back now so no more insects buzzing round them.
Can’t believe the purple campenulas are having another little flourish too…
Lots of leaf gathering already …. More to come down sadly…

Keep safe everyone and let’s hope things don’t get too worse! 🤞🤞
