I m pretty sure, her father was John FROST, 1711 (Wirksworth) – 1762 (Wirksworth)
He has married Ester HILL, 6 Jan 1737
But what about Elizabeth?

I m looking for Mary's
date and place of baptism (maybe even birth)

I read - Robert's son John Frost married 1st. Margaret Harding, 2nd wife Esther Hill who then had
Mary Frost who married John Flint.

The marriage of John Frost and Esther Hill, produced only 1 child Mary who when her Father died Intestate 1762 received all his property in the name of Mary Flint wife of John Flint.  John Frost's occupation was a Minor.

Have you found the Marriage to Margaret Harding?
Have you found the death of Margaret?
In order to check the family history as submitted by G.S.Flint to the Wirksworth Site?

John Flint and Mary produced many children.

Well, according to my information

Esther Hill
b about 1712
m 6 Jan 1737  John Frost
d 3 Jun 1743

John had Mary 1737, Lydia 1747 and Martha 1748.

I couldn t find anything about Margaret Harding.

And what about Elizabeth Frost as Mary's mother? Or is it another family?

There is a baptism in 1743 for a Joseph Frost son of John and Elizabeth of Booth

So, if Esther died earlier in the year, it would seem this Elizabeth at least is not Esther.

So, the key to the problem might be to find Margaret Harding (or Holding)

I ve just checked the mentioned records in familysearch.

There is only "one" Mary Frost bapt. in Harrington. The correct date is 28 Oct 1737. Residence of her parents John and Elizabeth Frost is Booth.

But I ve also found Mary Frost, bapt. in Wirksworth on 28 Oct 1737. Her father is John Frost. The name of her mother is not mentioned.

There might have been two persons, Mary Frost, bapt 28 Oct 1737. Is it likely?

This goes together with the above mentioned bapt of Joseph Frost in 1743.

So, I ll "forget" about John and Elizabeth. I ll focus on John of Wirksworth and search for Margaret.

When researching your family how did you arrive at “Mary Frost”.?

Frost is a common name.

So are you descended from one of the children of Mary Frost and John Flint, it would assist if you could give a little more info re your ancestors.


* sorry just noticed in previous posts you have a Lydia 1747 (record gives 1744) and Martha 1748 born to a John Frost, these cannot be children born to John and Esther Frost as Esther was buried 1743.
So either John took another wife or we are dealing with two separate men named John Frost of Wirksworth.

Well, everything I know is actually also written down in http://www.wirksworth.org.uk/p-flnt-1.htm.

As I'm now certain about Mary Frost's parents, the only missing piece is Margaret Harding of Hopton Stainsborough. I ve gone through the registers of St Mary's church Wirksworth. I ve found John Frost and Esther Hill. No sign of Margaret ....  Anyway, it's not that important ...

For the time beeing I "have taken Lydia and Martha from the list".

Alvin S Smedley was a Stonemason working for my Grt Grandfather Joseph Walker & Sons They had children Louisa and Mary..Fanny was Grt Grandaughter of my 5XUncle Abraham Flint (married Lydia Frost 1/2 sister to Mary Frost who married John Flint they my 4XGrandparents Abrahams son John Flint married into the Moorcroft family whose heirs founded Wm Moorcroft Pottery..
