From the census this is near Albemarle Crescent and Aberdeen Walk, but I can't find it on any old maps or directories.  Help! please!

As it was near Aberdeen Walk and Albermarle Crescent, it could have been demolished during the redevelopment of that area. Nearby Brunswick Shopping Centre is large and Haddo Terrace could have been on that part of the town.

Allan, yes, I agree, I'm looking for it on 1881-era maps, though.

It might be somewhere like this, the NW side of Alma Squarte.  There were 14 large properties.

Hi,

From a number of adverts in Newspapers the address is Haddo Terrace, Aberdeen Walk, Scarborough.

Is it possible this was collective name for a row of houses on Aberdeen Walk?

No 1 Haddo Terrace was the Young Women’s Christian Association. C1890

In 1880 a list of visitors to Scarborough shows Miss stevens of Matlock  “Grove Villa”, Haddo Terrace, Aberdeen Walk.

From description of how the census was walked in 1881 Haddo Terrace was on the west side of Aberdeen Walk.

All the newspaper references point to it being on Aberdeen Walk itself.

It looks like Haddo Terrace was renumbered as part of Aberdeen Walk sometime in the 1880's.

Mrs Bell's lodging house was 16 Haddo Terrace and she is at 48 Aberdeen Walk in 1891. Mrs Hogg who accommodated visitors in 1881 at 17 Haddo Terrace was at 50 Aberdeen Walk in 1891. Mrs Meeke was at 21 Haddo Terrace in 1881 and at 58 Aberdeen Walk in 1891.

Thank you all. I'm surprised I can't find the YWCA named an marked on any old map. The census entries suggest the properties were quite large.  I hope for more suggestions.

Shaun's references match the 1881 census, although Mrs Bell is Moses Bell.

Hi,

Entry re YWCA is from Bulmers Directory 1890

https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/YKS/NRY/Scarborough/Scarborough90Dry

1881 Census , 1 Haddo Terrace, Scarborough, folio 50, page 53, Sidney Corrie; PRO RG 11/4803,
is listed as resident.

Doing google search "Haddo Terrace" scarborough produces a number of results, Image search using Aberdeen Walk, produces images.

Yes, it was the Sidney Corrie reference that helped me.  Googling "Haddo Terrace" Scarborough didn't though.  How odd.

I'm looking at the buildings on Street View it see if I can find any hint of where it was.

Hi,

Assuming that the house numbers, posted by Shaunj, have not been changed since the 1890’s.  Using these numbers on google you get a number of results from estate agents,  this is one

Does this help?
