Royal Fleet Reserves 1909 query
« on: Wednesday 27 October 21 19:36 BST (UK) »
I'm getting in a pickle with trying to work out an ancestor's career before he sadly went down with the Titanic.

Stephen James Davis, after a long career as an AB in the RN was transferred to the RFR in 1903, then in June 1909 to RFR (Hawke).

My queries are - would this be HMS Hawke which was assigned to the Home Fleet at this time?

How can I find out what happened to Stephen after June 1909 (I know Hawke was in collision with RMS Olympic in the Solent in Sept 1911 and....funnily enough this was the last ship his brother John, a Baker, was on before he too joined the Titanic.  Could Stephen have been on Hawke when it collided with the Olympic.   Stephen was staying in a lodging house in Southampton in April, day of 1911 census which is a bit odd as his wife was home alone in Portsmouth that day.

It looks like brother John was at home for the 1911 census in Southampton in April - but maybe he was on the Olympic by September??

Any help and thoughts most welcome!
