Dublin Parish Records
« on: Sunday 31 October 21 20:55 GMT (UK) »
Hello Rootschatters,
I am wondering if anyone can help me, please. Are all the records for all the parishes in Dublin online or not?

I am talking Catholic, Protestant, Presbyterian, C of I, etc.

If not which ones are missing or destroyed?

I really appreciate the help as I am looking for the birth of an ancestor born in Dublin in 1870.

Thank you in advance.

Civil birth records from 1864 are here so your ancestor’s birth should be there.
https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/

There are also some church records too. You can click on a current list of parishes in the ‘Help’ box
https://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/

Catholic records also here if you know the parish and date
https://registers.nli.ie/

These are indexed though on Ancestry and Find my Past which helps.
Census Information is Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Is this the same person born 1870 Dublin that you are looking for?
https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=822748.18

If his baptism details were used for Army records perhaps he supplied the details if he had no birth certificate.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I think the answer to your question is too long and complex to fit into a post on RootsChat.
Putting Dublin parishes online is a work-in-progress, as you will see from a link in heywood's reply.

2 experts who keep a finger on the pulse of developments in Irish family history are:
Claire Santry of Irish Genealogy Toolkit
http://www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com/
and John Grenham of Irish Wizard.
They both blog frequently.

A list of existing C. of I. parish registers is on the RCB Library section of the Church of Ireland website. A new edition of it was published recently. An internet search for Church of Ireland Parish Registers Table should find the latest copy.

GENUKI website which has information about churches including year of foundation and register runs, is organised by place. Search for Genuki Dublin. It's a volunteer site so coverage of each place depends on the volunteer. It has maps with colour-coded markers for churches.

Sean Wilson's website is another for finding church locations. swilson.info

My apologies to Shane for getting his name wrong. I see his site has links to those belonging to Claire Santry and John Grenham. (I've checked spelling of Claire Santry.  :))

Thank you, Heywood and Aghadowey for your replies.

I shall trawl through the lists you have given me and see if I missed anything.

Yes, Aghadowey I am still looking for the same one. No luck so far. Both his army records and census give the correct year of birth for him.
