4th Brigade Field Artillery 1888 - service query
« on: Tuesday 02 November 21 18:46 GMT (UK) »
Hi

George Davis enlisted at age 15 in 1885 into the Royal Artillery and says joined at Newport, Monmouthshire although also says Fort Rowner, Gosport (where he lived).

I would like to know what Brigade/Regiment/s he was in during his 12 years and where he might have been located/stationed.  I've tried to look up 4th Brigade Welsh Field Artillery and 4th RFA and can't work out which he was with.  And, did he go to India for a year?

Any explanation of attached would be great.

Thanks very much

He embarked for India on the troopship Malabar in February 1889

and per the "Military History Sheet" in his army record he was back in the UK in April 1890.

Discharged in 1897 and joined up again in 1901.

Thank you Shaun.  Was he with 4th Brigade Field Artillery the whole time do you think?  And is it Welsh?
