Ah ok then I did wonder about him it only says on the 1861 census as being from Scotland he is the father of Nicholas hogarth born 1835 in Scotland although on census he was known as nichol until later ones when it changed to nicholas he says his father is william hogarth and ann

As Ann is so much older than William have you looked for an earlier marriage?  Which would mean the second marriage wouldn’t be Kennedy.

Mckha I must admit I didn't think of that I've come across a marriage in Cumberland of William and a nanny cowson in 1827  but I'm not sure bout it then again I wouldn't want to be called nanny I would change it to Ann fairly quickly
