Trying to find wedding cert

Hi All,
               have been trying to find a wedding cert for a Mary Hogan and John Gavin ,  I do have a birth/baptism record for one of the children but the wedding cert alludes me.
                                 Hope you can help Regards John

going by the date of this birth, any marriage would be before 1864, so only would appear in civil marriage records, i.e. certs, if the family were not Catholic. Do you know what religion they were ?

There's a matching baptism for that birth record in Catholic records for St. Peter's Athlone (Roscommon), so I'd start a search for a marriage entry in those registers. The other Catholic parish for Athlone is St. Marys (Westmeath).

nothing promising in Catholic marriage records that I could see - maybe they never married or came from a parish that was not keeping good records at the time ?

Thanks very much everyone, when I fail to find certs and feel that I must be missing something you never let me down, yes they were Catholic and will keep searching. ;)

If you look at the birth registration you will see that against Maria Hogan’s name there’s no “formerly.” That tells you they weren’t married. (Look at the other births on that page and you’ll see most were "formerly X" and so you know they were married, but this couple weren’t).

She also makes her mark as informant - Maria HOGAN not Maria GAVIN.
