Can't find marriage entry for Maurice Kirby and Kate Mary Finucane in Feb 1864

I have two newspaper entries for sisters Kate Mary and Bridget Finucane who both married a Maurice Kirby in 1864 in Limerick.

Munster News, 13 Feb 1864
On Monday last, at Ballybricken Chapel, by the Rev John Conway RCC, St John's assisted by the Rev Mr Maher, PP and the Rev Mr Calliman RCC, Mr Maurice Kirby, to Bridget, third daughter of Mr Edmond Finucane, Carrickparson, co Limerick

Clare Journal 15 Feb 1864
On Monday, at Donoughmore Church, Maurice Kirby Esq, Knocklong Cottage, cousin to Patrick Synan Kirby Esq, to Kate Mary, fourth daughter of Edward Finncane (ie Finucane) Esq, Carrickparson

I've found the corresponding entry in the registers for the one who married Bridget but can't find the one for Kate Mary.

Can anyone help? I'd like to know the name of this Maurice's father.

Hi, I would say it's the same people.  Just one marriage.
When you look for Maurice Kirby 1860 to 1866 there is just the one marriage to Bridget.
Mary was often known as Bridget.
Edward is the same as Edmond.
The lady called Ellen who was a witness married John Hallinan in 1866.
I can only find Bridget and Ellen. What were the manes of the other girls?

Maggsie, that's what I thought at first but the newspaper notices say that Bridget is the THIRD daughter and Kate Mary the FOURTH daughter of Edmond Finucane and they were married in different places.

I'm not sure what you mean by the names of the other girls? A third sister, Ellen, married Denis Quinlivan on 22 Feb 1873 at Bohermore.

Here is the marriage of James Coneen  and Mary Moynihan in January 1864. The civil marriage shows it was at Donoughmore church.

The February ones after this are not at that particular church as per civil records e.g. Michael Kennedy and Maria Greensmith’s marriage - Knockea.

They are alternative names for the same parish so presumably just different chapels.

Do you know your relatives Mothers Christian and Maiden names?

The marriage took place in Killadysert RC Church in Co Clare. Ellen living in the townland of Effernan, her father Edmond a farmer.

Thanks for the entries, heywood, good detective work. It's really strange to see the entries for church and civil registration don't match up and that the Kirby/Finucane marriage doesn't appear in the parish registers.

Maggsie, sorry I don't know who the mother is. It's really Maurice's father I'm interested in. I know the father of the one who married Bridget Finucane is Bartholomew. The father of the Maurice who married Kate Mary Finucane would be Bartholomew's brother. The clue is in "cousin to Patrick Synan Kirby Esq" - Patrick Synan Kirby is the brother of the first Maurice Kirby. His other brothers were Jeremiah, Thomas Brien and James Kirby but I don't know which one had the son Maurice who married Kate Mary Finucane.

Phew, so complicated when all I need is the marriage registration :-)
