16th 5th Lancers National Service
« on: Monday 08 November 21 11:17 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

My grandfather passed away recently and I decided to look into his military service, I know he served in the 16th/5th Lancers as a driver and dove an a34 comet but I want to know his service number and whether he would have been eligible for any medals his name was Leslie Thomas Martin born 7th September 1933 Paddington he served from 1952-58 and I know he went to Germany and Syria.

I would appreciate any help or advice
Thanks
Owen

Hi Owen,

His service records will still be with the MoD. You can apply for a copy - it costs 30 and there can be a long wait:  https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records/apply-for-someone-elses-records
