French occupation query
« on: Tuesday 09 November 21 20:05 GMT (UK) »
I would be grateful if someone could verify the occupation of Claude Bertol in this French baptism register from 1723.

Marie Anne Joseph was the daughter of Claude Bertol and Marie Rabatet.
I think the middle line says:
‘ of claude bertole à présent géolier de /prison/’

Is this correct? And is there any reason the word ‘prison’ is between two lines?
If they were adding information to the fact that he was a gaoler, one would have thought the ‘de’ would also have been within the lines, as ‘de prison’?
It just seems a bit odd.

Thanks for any help

Could it be "des prisons"?

I think it's "géolier deS prisonS" the S being the long one as in "à préSent" just before.
