I can’t find a Rachel Rees daughter of a Rees Rees or a David Gower son of a Daniel Rees in the census lending support to the theory that there is a mismatch in the marriage entry, lending support to the above theory, but perhaps others can?

Can you see any other couples marrying on the same day/same place?

If so I would check out their information (if you haven't already) to see if it all matches.

It would be helpful if ancestry had the facility that you could search adjacent marriage record entries, but it doesn't as far as I am aware?

I wonder why she said she was 25 on the marriage as she was younger than that  :-\
Only 20 if my maths is right.

One of the many inconsistencies which adds to the confusion

FindMyPast has the image for the  Gower Rees marriage. There were  no other marriages on that date, a week or more between marriages before and after.

Witnesses in case first is helpful

So, she was a minor?!
And told a few "white lies" to cover the facts.

Civil Registration was, and still is, informant led.
No checks were carried out.

You are looking at a church register, all the marriages are one after the other in the same church, just move forward or back to each image.

Why is the date 20 July 1892 on the monument.

Can you identify the family you are seeing in the 1861 Census and 1851 Census.

Can you show the other sides of the monument.

David Gower is definitely brother of Rev John and son of John Gower, farmer of Burry Port who later moved to Capel Ifan. Lots of newspaper reports linking the two.

Not found a report of David's marriage yet

Hi.

I don’t think there is any significance in the date, perhaps it is just a reference to when this monument may have replaced an earlier less imposing one.

Yes, as previously stated Rachel is with her parents and siblings at Carnawllon Fach in 1851 and 1861.

Unfortunately not, I only have a picture of the front but there is no indication that there is any inscriptions on the reverse.

Thanks, don’t know why I didn’t spot that. As per Comberton’s post there are no obvious marriage entries that this one could have got mixed up with
