Epsom Cemetery transcriptions are on the Epsom & Ewell History Explorer website.
George doesn't appear to be there.
https://eehe.org.uk/?cat=38

They do have a page on The Cleft Chin Murder
https://eehe.org.uk/?p=28286

And, as Rosie said, George might have been cremated.

Many things are possible, but it's best not to guess until we have clearer details?

My understanding is that the man in question didn't belong to the parish where he was resident, in the year he was killed.
He'd deliberately moved his family out of Central London because of the Blitz.
And he wasn't 62, I don't think.

Hi
I am saying that the George Edward Heath buried at Manor Park Cemetery on 17 Aug 1945 may be the chap whose death was registered in Sep 1945, Essex SW. Age 62.
I don't know where the murder victim from 1944 was buried, I wouldn't want to take a guess!

think his funeral was on Friday 27th October 1944 somewhere in London

Where has that date come from?

Do you think it could be possible that the funeral and burial took place back in Battersea where he had been living before he was bombed out?
Cross Steeple Claydon Bucks,  Jennings Steeple Claydon Bucks,  Steel Byfield Northants,  Rogers Northants,  Wheeler Oxon,  Roberts Oxon,  Bonham Oxon/ Middleton Cheney Northants,  Maycock Northants,  Abbott Northants , Newman Northants, Buckingham Bucks, Hart Warks, Newth Gloucs.

There is a lengthy report in the Middlesex Chronicle 21 October 1944.
The inquest on George Edward Heath was opened at Feltham on Monday (which would have been 16th Oct) and formal evidence was given by 5 witnesses. The inquest was adjourned until 8th January 1945.

There is no mention of the coroner issuing a burial order at this time, however if this was the case the possible burial date given by Steve in his original post of  "Friday 27th October 1944 somewhere in London" is feasible.  I can't find the inquest in January 1945 in the newspapers.

Another report in The Daily Mirror 13 October 1944 mentions "Friends of Heath are planning to pay for his funeral".
Robbins - Wolverhampton.
Spooner - Monmouthshire & Wolverhampton.
Warner & Loundes - Dudley/Smethwick.
Dod(g)son - Heysham/Liverpool/Wolverhampton

Strobe,

Do you know what happened to your grandmother following George's death?  Perhaps she was buried in the same place?

Update:
I'm now in personal contact with 2 members of the family who have made the request.
I will post up on RootsChat any questions which arise, as we discuss things...

Please continue to post up here anything reliable you find from historical sources which might help.
Very grateful

[Nell - it's unlikely that the grandmother would be buried in same place, since the couple were estranged and I believe she remarried.]

Thank you, that's extremely useful, when trying to establish what actually happened.
I now understand he was separated from his wife when he was murdered, and he had a girlfriend, and was living away from the family home.

Many apologies if I misunderstood what you wrote.

I am told the date of the intended funeral i.e. 27 October 1944 came from a solicitor's letter sent to a part of the family, to keep them in touch with plans.
