John Conrad Rehden
« on: Tuesday 16 November 21 15:40 GMT (UK) »
John Conrad Rehden lived in London from at least 1777 when he marries.  He was a Tailor and married Ann Elizabeth Case. She was  B 1758 d 1847 .They marry 14/10/1777 St George Bloombury Camden.
Some trees show John as born  about 1743 London dying 1805--but I am struggling to confirm this.  I also wonder if he was born Germany . I have letters dated 1793 to my dearest brother from a Christian Rehden from Bergdorf in Hanover. Were they to John Conrad Rehden or a generation back. If that is the case I wonder when he came to England . Keen to learn more about him and his parents.

His eldest son John C Rehden was b 1777-1843 and was also a tailor  and living in  1831 at 58 Dorset Street London.

Grateful for your help.
Thanks

Personally  I think its with an H so will change it .  But when I went on line to find any German Records for his brothers family It was spelt sometimes as Reden Confusing.

There is a death entry for a Johan Rehden 21 January 1805 (burial 27 January) in the Parish registers for the German Lutheran Church, Strand and giving an address for him as 58 Dorset St, Salisbury Sq. It's on Ancestry and written in German. It gives his age as 62.

The letter before Johan is an H for Herr

He is described as being a master tailor (Schneidermeister)
Cause of death "Auszehrung" cachexia, emaciation
Buried on the 27th in our churchyard

semms to have been a tailors community.
on these 2 pages, 5 of the deceased were tailors and 1 was a furrier

Thanks. Confused as to location of church.Perhaps someone can help. Is it what is now called the Savory church down from the Strand in London?.I had hoped he might have left a will but I can't see one. Very hard on his wife to have been  left with such a large family.
