2nd Lt Douglas Roy Dilworth-Harrison Durham Light Infantry
« on: Friday 19 November 21 13:16 GMT (UK) »
I am researching this fallen WW1 officer.  I have the information on his early life, family, occupation prior to enlisting. He died on 27 March 1918 and is on the Poziere Memorial.  What I am looking for is a photo of him which I am unable to pin down.  I am sure there must be one out there somewhere, as he was an officer.  I'd really appreciate if anyone can locate one.
Many thanks
K8T

Nothing apparent in the newspapers, other than two reports of his death - Kent Messenger & Gravesend Telegraph and Maidstone Telegraph, both editions dated 27 April 1918.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thanks for looking BumbleB.  I believe we have the Kent Messenger one.  A little strange that there's not picture of him.

Unfortunately not every soldier, of whatever rank, had a photograph.

You could, perhaps, try to contact the Durham Light Infantry archives to see if they have anything.

I did take a look at the Durham Light Infantry Musuem but it appears to gave closed.  I'll have to track down where the archives have gone.  Thought I'd post here in the meantime.

Hi K8T yes sadly the DLI museum is closed, there is in nearby Spennymoor a DLI research centre where I believe records are kept or try a search on the Durham county archives website they have a huge collection of photograph's of the regiment and those who served.
A little more about him.

I can't find anything in the Durham County archives, but wondered if anyone has access to the London Illustrated news of 27 April 1918.  There are some photos on page 16 but I haven't got a subscription.
