Newspaper Library online subscription -v- FindMyPast
« on: Wednesday 24 November 21 17:17 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I have subs to Ancestry and also FindMyPast, the latter particularly for using the Newspaper searches. Please can anybody tell me if a direct sub with the Newspaper Library would get me more/better coverage of UK newspapers than I currently get with FindMyPast.

I understood the papers on FindMyPast were the same ones as the British Newspaper Archive.  But perhaps the most recent additions to the latter take a little while to appear on the former?

You can search both (without signing in) for newspapers, places & dates etc to compare coverage and make your own decision.

(I am assuming you are referring to British Newspapers only, obviously there are other resources for “foreign” papers.)
Side tracked to a friend’s very interesting Norfolk families. MORGAN, PRATT, HORNOR, SUCKLING, GLEANE etc. And in London DOWNES, du CROZ, MORGAN (same MORGANs as the Norwich lot)

When new newspapers are added to the BNA they are also added to FindMyPast so you won't gain anything taking out a BNA sub.

As folk have pointed out, FindMyPast and the BNA are the same in terms of newspaper coverage, but the key difference is in the user interface and search options, I much prefer the BNA for that reason.

For those that prefer the BNA search/interface or don't want the whole of FindMyPast, this may be helpful:
