don't seem to be able to post
« on: Thursday 25 November 21 23:27 GMT (UK) »
Im trying to post on the deciphering handwriting board
Tried to attach a .jpg file and when I hit post got the message "an attachment with this name already exists. Please rename the file and try again.
It now won't seem to let me post without an attachment, and I still get the same message when I try.
Any ideas please?

Have you tried "un-attaching" your original file? ie, click on "Clear attachment". Then rename your file on your own system and attach the new file.

Hope that makes sense.  :)

Names of attachments must be unique within RootsChat.

My usual "fix" is to add my initials to the file name, together with a preceding dash.
So, "file1.jpg" becomes "file1-KG.jpg".

Thanks. That's what I did . It worked the second time .I guess I never really thought there would be anyone else who'd attached something with  exactly the the same file name. Thanks again.
