Looking good - a step closer  :)

Where does George b 1874/5 fit in, I wonder?

I had been thinking he could be illegitimate and Emmanuel Hilton was the father  :-\

I thought that but also wonder if one of Emanuel and Elizabeth's children changed his name as he names his mother as Elizabeth :-\

I have been wondering if he changed his name completely - he had a tough upbringing from the newspaper reports.
In 1881 we have an Emanuel Hilton, 9 and Joseph Hilton 7 - both born Windsor. Trying to find them in '91.

I can see Joseph in 1901 I think but not Emanuel post 1881

A Joseph Hilton attested for the 3rd Bat Royal West Surry regt, 30 Sep 1892, No 6984, age 18yrs 6 mths, born Kingston, labourer.
Address 2, Hope Avenue.

Puzzled by the naming of George Albert Hilton, born 1883, Jun Qtr 1883, Windsor - mother Brown.

George attesting in 1893 states "mother, Bristol" but Elizabeth can be found in Fairfield Place in 1891 and 1901 - all very frustrating.

On the first 1889 attestion for George Casell at the time he was 17 yrs 11 months on 15 Oct 1889 (although he was younger in the two later attestations).

If my maths is OK that puts him as born in Nov 1871 which would match with Emanuel Hilton's birth record   He's my best suggestion re George
Births Dec 1871
Emanuel Hilton     Windsor    2c   417

I think George Albert is with Elizabeth and family in 1891.   Can't explain why it is mother Bristol though - it looks like it was added at a later date?  :-\

My money also is on Emanuel, 1871. The newspaper reports paint a very sad story of the hardships the family suffered. I wondered if he wanted to disassociate himself from his father's name? As usual, all very speculative.

Why are both Emanuel and Joseph so elusive in 1891?
