Would appreciate help on the entry fir John Coleman in this prison record please?

I think it says 7 days hard labour or 16s 6d but that does not tally with the discharge date.

My ancestor had been living on North Tyneside so it would have been a long way to be sent down?Was this normal in 1909?

I cannot read the offence but he seems to have appeared in court at York, I think the amount he could have paid was 10s 6d and not 16s 6d. I hope someone can work out what the offence was because I would love to know as well.

I think the offence is Dk (= Drunk).

I thought the offence was Ditto of ? Gambling ?

So maybe gambling or drunk? Why send him all the way to Wakefield from Willington Quay for that? I would love to know if this is my ancestor because I have found it is a not uncommon name. The name, age,  occupation and religion match and it it also has info on his education, his height and hair colour. If he was 62, his hair would have been grey or white probably?

What about his place of birth as Sligo, does that fit?
