Henry and Priscilla Maunder
« on: Friday 10 December 21 14:18 GMT (UK) »
Henry Maunder (b. Newton Ferrers, Devon - 1819-1898) married Priscilla Tamblin (b. Hubberston, Pembroke, Wales - 1831–1911) on 1 Nov 1848 at Ebinezer Chapel, Margate, Isle of Thanet, Kent.  Henry was possibly stationed at the Coast Guard Station, Ramsgate at the time.

Henry was a mariner from 1842 to 1872, serving as a Boatman - Coastguard from 1847-1854 and 1856-1872 (ref. UK, Naval Officer and Rating Service Records).

They had 14 children between 1850 and 1878, the first 3 in England, 1 in Wales, the other 11 in Northern Ireland.

Henry died on 23 Sept 1898 (14 Percy Street, Shankill, Belfast, Northern Ireland).

In 1901 Priscilla lived at Roe, Clifton, Antrim, Ireland with son Francis Maunder.  In 1911 she lived at 22 Northumberland Street, Wood Vale Ward, Antrim, Ireland with daughter Anne (Gibson) and her family.

She died on 18 May 1911 in Belfast, Antrim.

Henry and Priscilla were obviously together several times between 1848 and 1898 but I’m unable to find any records. Can you help please?

Hi  :)

It would be useful to have the information for the births in England and Wales.
Names of children and birth years/places.

Andy  :)

Can't seem to find any Maunder/Tamblin births in England and Wales between 1848 and 1867

So far, I have the following children:

A male child born 4 March 1864 in Portrush, Antrim
Francis Joseph born 13 Dec 1867 in Ballygally, Antrim
Louisa Emily born 21 July 1870 in Ballygally, Antrim
John David Maunders born 21 March 1871 in Ballygally, Antrim
Eliza Amelia born 4 July 1874 in Belfast (died 8 Apr 1876 in Belfast aged 1)
Frederick William born 15 Dec 1875 in Belfast (died 17 April 1879 in Belfast aged 3 1/3)
Ernest Arthur born 22 Oct 1877 in Belfast (died 25 Dec 1878 in Belfast)

They might be hiding somewhere on the 1851 census of England and Wales.

If we can find the exact birth place of the first two children, Priscilla might be found on the 1851 census.
For other years, there won't be any census records to find them in.

In that case, the family wasn't in England, Wales or Scotland for the census years.
