My understanding from the Granddaughter is that her grandmother told them of this sister, as well as how she met my great grandfather (her grandfather).  He was over in England, France and Scotland during WW1, and after being wounded was in a hospital, and it is there that he and Dorothy met.  So this information was given to the granddaughter by their grandmother.

Might not a similar story be also the case for Frances?

She arrived 1920, shortly after Albert LILLEY was again sighted on a  property in Warea.

She was pregnant in 6 months from that arrival.

Albert had returned to UK to marry Lotty per the promise. It was not successful. Perhaps he joined the war effort.......

Where was Frances working during those years?

Two sister go to NZ to marry their Mr Rights, but only  one can actually marry.

... Frances?
She arrived 1920, shortly after Albert LILLEY was again sighted on a  property in Warea.

Mmm ... I don't recall anyone mentioning Albert LILLEY being sighted on a property in Warea in 1920 ?

Can you explain please,  where this comes from ??

Not sure if it has come up.

A Mr AJ LILLEY aged 39, a farmworker was a passenger on the Orvieto, which left London on 6 Mar 1920. The ship was going to Sydney and he was to carry on to NZ.

Could be him returning.

Seem to remember him coming here first in 1903.

added:   And yes, almost certain that was him arriving here firstly in 1903 (details are tucked in this thread somewhere.  Will find and add link).

Frances HODGE (LILLEY) :

    * * *    C O R R E C T I O N    * * *    to information posted previously at Reply # 46

Albert James LILLEY    An   A. J. LILLEY  arrived in NZ from England in 1903.
Ship :  "Tokomaru"  London (21 October 1903)  to Wellington, arrived 22 December 1903.
He was listed as a Farmer aged 23 years, single.    The manifest  NZ Immigration list has him disembarking at Auckland (may be an error ?).  Correction >  The actual passenger list (from another source) showed he had elected to disembark at Wellington NZ.
Corrections are in blue :

He first appears on NZ e/rolls in 1905/06 at Warea, Taranaki.

Edit :  Additional info.

Added :  Sorry, don't know what possessed me to write the name "Albert James LILLEY" originally, because that wasn't on the record at all.  ::)     Have re-looked at records and corrected as above to show  the passenger name was in fact,  A. J. LILLEY.
