Looking for info: Harry Carter, Gertrude, and Doreen...

Hiya, looking for info on Harry Carter who married his wife Gertrude in approx 1905. Went on to have daughter Doreen in approx 1908. Doreen married Leonard Cyril Humm. I am sort of stuck in terms of finding parents for Gertrude and Harry, I'd love to find out more if anyone can help? (This all happened in Manchester I believe - Harry was born in Chorlton on Medlock in 1878 ish and Gertrude was born in 83 ish). Thanks in advance!

A Harry Carter and a Gertrude Bennett are on the same page of a marriage register in Q/E Dec 1905 in Kendal (Westmorland) Registration District. Unless there is a couple with the same names, this didn't happen in Manchester area.

If you obtain that marriage certificate you will have the name of both the bride and groom's fathers for sure.

Have you found the family in 1911 and if so - what birth places were shown please?

Hiya, thanks for all the info so far! I have found the family in 1911 - Harry was born in 'C on M, Manchester', Gertrude was born in 'Horsley, Lanc' and Doreen was born 'Heaton Norris, Lancs' (at least that's what my interpretation of the writing was).

Could be them married in Kendal but they would've move in the 3 years before Doreen (possible?).

Also thanks so much sgf28 for the ages, super helpful! Think maybe a different couple because the ages don't quite match - in the 1911 census Harry was 32 and had been married six years.

Actually - in the Select Births and Christenings on the Ancestry site there is an entry for a Harry Carter born 15 April 1878, baptised 21 Sep 1879 - father William, mother Sarah! This was in Kendal also - but checking census records after his marriage to Gertrude, his birth place is shown as Manchester!

That is such a coincidence finding one in Kendal - but it isn't the same father as sgf28 found on the marriage - and that should be the right father.

I can't see him in 1939 at the moment - which would give an actual birth date.

Oh wow! Thanks so much! Both lots of info sound like they match with Gertrude and Harry - amazing! So strange his place of birth changed (no wonder I was so lost haha). Sorry Pennines, which father do you believe to be right? William married to Sarah?
