What happened to Eliza/Elizabeth after 1918?
« on: Tuesday 14 December 21 13:52 GMT (UK) »
I've lost a relative after 1918.

Born Eliza Chambers in 1892 in Lincoln, baptised as Eliza Graby Chambers at Lincoln in March 1903. Dob on the baptism record is 29th Jun 1892, parents George Henry and Sarah Jane.

Marriage cert 1st Oct 1918 at the Register Office, Lincoln;
Elizabeth Graby Chambers, spinster aged 26 to Ernest Brace aged 33, widower.
Father of the bride George Henry Chambers.

After that I'm stuck, there is a possible son registered in Guildford in 1921 but no other births with the right surname combination. (I don't have the 1921 birth cert as proof they were there and the death of an 11 year old by the same name in 1932 ain Edmonton RD on freebmd is a red herring, the record is actually for a 66 year old man).

I'm struggling to see anything close for Eliza/Elizabeth and Ernest after the marriage in the 1939, bmd or migration records.

Millwright on the marriage cert though earlier records mention him being a joiner  (he's from Sculcoates originally)

1901 he's in Sculcoates with parents, occ apprentice joiner.

1911 in West Ham, joiner in a flour mill with 1st wife Florence and 2yr old son Harry

Death of Florence in West Ham in 193 then the marriage to Eliza/Elizabeth in Lincoln in 1918. Witnesses aren't names I've come across before.

The son Harry b1909 lives out his days in Lincs based on the bmd and 1939 register.

An Ernest Brace, millwright, was in Skirbeck Quarter / Boston in 1920, where he suffered a work accident of some sort which necessitated a hospital visit (I can't see the full article).

Thanks for the replies

I did a bit more digging yesterday

Ernest's had a sister who appears in the ER'S  with her widowed father in Hull until he (the father) died in the early 1930's. In 1939 she is in Boston, unmarried and recorded as a teacher. She died in 1967, still unmarried and back in Hull. Probate register entry includes the name of a 'married woman' though I haven't been able to show a family link to her.

I'm still in the dark with Ernest and Eliza/Elizabeth but will keep looking.
