Any idea what became of Kathleen Brace, daughter of Ernest and Florence? If you can trace her you might be able to find Ernest & Elizabeth.

An Ernest Brace, millwright, was in Skirbeck Quarter / Boston in 1920, where he suffered a work accident of some sort which necessitated a hospital visit (I can't see the full article).

There's another possible newspaper reference to Ernest, but prior to the marriage in 1918. Whether it's the same Ernest is debatable. If there are two of a similar age and both millwrights it'd make things a bit more complicated.

Rochdale Observer

Rochdale Tribunal
Millwrights Exempted
- T Robinson and Son
- urged the the following should be exempted:
- Leonard Craven (34
- R Timms (38)
- Leonard Priestley (34)
- John Dixon (34)
- Ernest Brace (30)
- millwrights
...
- They were all married men
- The millwrights obtained conditional exemptions

There's another marriage at Sculcoates in the Mar qtr 1916 for an Ernest Brace, spouse is Elsie Watson or Harrison, (it's not clear which surname it is as both are given). That predates the Rochdale news article. A death of an Elsie Brace registered in Mar qtr 1918 down in Hackney.

Both those would fit in the gap between the death of Florence and marriage to Eliza

UPDATE, The marriage register for the 1918 marriage is on FindMyPast and it's a different Ernest, different age, occupation and father recorded.

Obviously work took him all over and it makes it a bit of a nightmare to work out what might, or might not be relevant. Daughter Kathleen is my next avenue to look into, I think by then I will have covered parents, siblings and children as best I can without buying half the annual GRO certificate output.

Now the penny has dropped, the 'married woman' in the probate record is Kathleen Smythe. 1938 marriage in Kensington of Kathleen Brace to William Smythe.

1939 in Brackley Northants, hubby is a butler. Three children with the right name combinations born 1940-1948 in Northants.

There's a lot of events in the Brace name in the Surrey and London Districts in the 1920's and into the 1930's and it's really hard to tell with some if they are relevant or not. I can discount  some but not all of them.
