thanks for replying 1860-1900 I think that was when he had it but not really bothered Abner Cherry bought the title when it was first put up for sale . This what I found out
FISHERVILLE HOTEL
It was in 1855 that Jacob Kurtz purchased or leased the three lots and built a hotel on the southeast corner of Steeles and the Yorkville and Vaughan Plank Road cum Dufferin. In 1858, Kurtz sold the hotel and land to James Mabley, who had married Kurtz’s sister-in-law. As Kurtz died the same year, it appears that Mabley did not have clear title. When Mabley died, his widow married Abner Cherry, and as Mary Cherry she received title from the Mabley heirs from 1876 to 1878. Abner and Mary Cherry ran the hotel for over 50 years. Abner purchased all of the lots in the Fisher subdivision as they became available. Thomas Potton bought the hotel and built a dance pavilion there in 1920. Potton renamed the hotel The Hanging Gate Inn. In 1945, the Connaught Laboratories purchased the hotel and grounds and demolished the buildings.

Is it what is now called Fisherville Hotel and Tavern? The Restaurant was established in 1853. If so, so far I have only found modern pictures, including those on their facebook page.

I searched Google and basically followed your tracks in your search and saw the other places you have asked.
There seems to be a hotel and tavern there now by the same name. Have you asked them if they have any photos of the old place?

And I found something at Google Books that says it was known as the Cherry Inn for a while.

Have you tried looking under that name? I did and didn't find anything, but you might be more persistent. I'll attach a screenshot of the page in case the link doesn't work.

You'd think there would be one picture somewhere, esp. since it lasted until 1945.

Maybe an old postcard ... have you tried etsy or similar sites? It might have shown up on Google if it was there, but I'm not sure.

Try calling during off hours, maybe in the middle of the week. You might get farther than an email. Or write them, including your contact information so they don't have to write back.

Another thought: a local paper or historical society.

I googled the title of the book.  It looks like there were at least 6 volumes of this book. Some investigating might tell you which volume is most likely to have information about the Fisherville tavern. Or maybe the fact that it is mentioned in the 1954 review of the book might narrow it down.  That might have been the first volume.  I didn't spend the time to figure out.

Some available for sale:

How to find a library near you that has a copy:
https://www.worldcat.org/

One of the libraries might be willing to look and see what it says about the tavern. Try a public library first, then a college. A private library or genealogical library would probably want $$ to do it.
